Oomūli feature guides
Chat
Talk with your team, share files and keep related replies together.
Choose a conversation
- Open Chat. You must belong to the selected establishment to use its conversations.
- Choose a channel for a team topic, such as handover or kitchen. A private channel is only available to its members.
- Choose a teammate under Messages for a one-to-one conversation. Use Search to find a teammate or conversation.
- For a small group, use Create group message under Group Messages, select the teammates and create the conversation. Only its members can read it.
Write and send a message
- Open the conversation and type in Message. For example, “The patio is ready for tonight’s service.”
- To address someone, type @ and choose their name from the suggestions. To format text, open Formatting and emoji and use controls such as Bold or Bulleted list.
- Review the conversation and message, then select Send message. On desktop, Enter also sends and Shift+Enter starts a new line. On a phone, Return starts a new line; use Send message to send.
- Check that the message appears in the conversation. If sending fails, keep the draft, read the error and check the conversation before retrying.
Reply to a topic or react
- For a channel message, open its actions and select Reply in thread. A thread keeps replies attached to that message instead of starting a new topic in the channel.
- Write your reply in the thread and send it. Close the thread to return to the conversation. Threads are available for channels, not direct or group messages.
- To acknowledge a message without another reply, use its reaction control and choose an emoji. Select your reaction again to remove it. Use Who reacted to see the names.
Share a photo, video or file
- Open the conversation and select Attach file to choose one file. Photo or video also offers camera controls on supported phones; a computer may open a file picker instead.
- Review the selected file, its name and any preview. Images and videos receive names such as Image 1 or Video 1; you can change the name before sending.
- Add a message if needed, then select Send message. Choosing a file does not send it. Use Remove attachment if you chose the wrong one.
- To open a received file, use its preview, playback or named download control. If access is unavailable, reopen the conversation and check your connection.
Files must fit the size limit shown in the app. Large supported photos may be resized; videos keep their original format. Check that any important details remain readable.
Send or listen to a voice message
- Select Record voice message, then Start recording. Allow microphone access if your browser asks.
- Stop recording and listen to the preview. Select Attach voice message, then Send message in the conversation to send it.
- To listen to received audio, use its player. Check your media volume and connected headphones if you cannot hear it. Listening does not need microphone permission.
Recordings are limited to two minutes or 5 MB. Unsent audio can be lost when you reload or close the tab. To speak instead of typing text, use your device keyboard’s dictation and review the words before sending.
Find messages again
- Use Search in Chat to find messages you can access, then open a result to see its conversation.
- Use a message’s Save action to keep a private bookmark. Open More or Tools & settings → Saved to return to it later. Saving does not notify the conversation.
- Use Pin on a message when you want a shared reference for the conversation. Open Pinned to find shared pins. Personal channel pins are different: they only arrange your shortcuts in this browser.
- Open More or Tools & settings → Drafts & Sent to resume a text draft or revisit something you sent. Open Mentions to find messages that mention you.
Bookmarks and search do not keep access after you leave or are removed from a conversation. Preserve unsent text before clearing browser data; files may need to be selected again after reloading.
Join, create or leave a channel
- Use Add channels to browse the available channels and join one that you need for work. For a private channel, ask an authorized member or moderator for an invitation.
- If Create channel is available, enter a clear name and description, choose public or private, and review the choice before creating it.
- To leave, open the channel header actions and select Leave. If you manage the channel, Archive stops new messages while retaining readable history for people who still have access; Restore makes it available again. Read each confirmation.
An establishment invitation and a channel invitation are different. Someone must first belong to the establishment before they can use its channels.
Download, print or save a PDF
- Open the conversation you want to keep and select Export / Print. It includes only the accessible messages currently loaded, with the current view or search. Load earlier messages first if needed. Thread replies are separate: open the thread and use its Export / Print action to include its loaded replies.
- Select Export / Print. Read Scope to check what is included, then review the record count and preview.
- Select Export CSV to download a file you can open in a spreadsheet app.
- Or select Print / Save as PDF. Choose a printer or Save as PDF in your browser’s print window, if your device offers it, and finish printing or saving.
The preview shows up to 50 records. Follow the stated scope for the full download or printout. Attachments are listed by name; download the files separately. Saved copies do not update when records change in Oomūli.
If a conversation or message is missing
- Check the selected establishment and try Search. A private channel will not appear unless you have access. Ask its moderator if you need an invitation or were removed.
- If you cannot post, check whether the channel is archived. If a file or audio will not open, read the displayed error and try its download control if offered.
- For an unresolved error, open Help & feedback. Include the action, error wording and browser or phone type. You do not need to share private conversation contents.
